Staff changes at CCI

line

This Summer has seen CCI say goodbye to several friends and colleagues at CCI: Vicky Hutchinson and Katy Harris who have now left.

Roy Stewart, Operations Director and CEO of CCI: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work in the past and wish them good luck in their new ventures. Both Vicky and Katy will be hard to replace, but this is a great opportunity for others to step up and I am delighted that Angela Headington and Mike Dickinson will be continuing to ensure that we give an excellent service to our clients and customers.

Someone else who will be leaving us, but only for a while (we hope!), will be Claire Hyde who is now on maternity leave - good luck Claire and see you back soon!

On a sadder note those who you who have visited our offices in the past will no-doubt join us in wishing Pat Davies a happy retirement - Pat retired from CCI at the end of July and we are sure that we can speak for everyone in saying that Pat - you will be missed by everyone!"

The KPI Engine is a web based tool that can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection without the need to install costly software, delivering all of the construction industry’s performance measurement and benchmarking requirements.

The new look Engine is now available online at www.kpiengine.com and for further information on CCI's performance measurement services you can contact us on kpi@ccinw.com

Spotlight: Case Study

Winner of the Heritage Award at the 2011 North West Regional Construction Awards - Chester City Walls

casestudy

Client - Cheshire West & Chester Council
Design Team Architect - Giffords, Chester
Build Team Main Contractor - Maysand

Overview of the Project
Chester's Walls are the most complete circuit of walls in Britain, forming a remarkable 2-mile periphery around this historic city, so that Chester is quite rightly renowned as 'The Walled City.'  The Walls originate from Roman times, although they have experienced a rich history since including; Saxon and medieval rebuilding and extensions, Civil War conflict and Georgian elegance.

Maysand were appointed to restore a 30 metre section of the walkway which had collapsed on 3 April 2008 close to the Eastgate Clock.

The project meant re-using as much of the original masonry as possible, and every stone that was taken down had to be individually numbered and catalogued to ensure that it was put in its right position.

Maysand worked very closely with archaeologists, engineers and English Heritage to provide a bespoke restoration of the Roman Wall.  This included Maysand inspectors abseiling down many other parts of the wall to survey the extent of the damage.

The heritage project was a fascinating mix of engineering, archaeology and investigative work (Read More)

the bigger picture

The Summer months saw a plethora of reports and strategy’s being released by the Government regarding our industry and it is fantastic to see that Constructing Excellence have played and major role in a lot of these. The strategy documents that have emerged from various Government departments have not just been aligned to the CE ethos - they have been complementary and show just how much CE has been influencing UK Government strategy.

• CE has published their Infrastructure Sector Strategic Report;

• CE has published their response to the BIS BIM strategy;

• The Government response to the Innovation and Growth Team report was published and CE has been identified as a key partner to take forward several of the recommendations made:

Well done to the Constructing Excellence team in London and to all of our sister regional CE Centres throughout the UK!
